Beautiful clear water and endless relaxation. Peaceful environment.
My personal favorite swimming hole. I love how they control the number of people in the park at a time. It is very difficult to get the kids to leave this place. It is a little kids heaven on earth. The rope swings are so fun and the water is spectacular. Great place to spend a hot summer day. With that said, if you get there past 10:30am you most likely will be waiting 2-3 hours in the parking lot until they let more people in. They are super obnoxious with this rule, even if the place clears out they will not let more people in until the designated time. Seems really lazy on the part of the staff. 6 kids waiting in the parking lot on a 90 degree day for 2 hours.....not fun.
Freezing!!! But relaxing, fun, and very beautiful!!! We loved floating around the watering hole. And the teenager enjoyed the rope swings. And we thought ahead, to pack a picnic. So it made for a great summer outing!
Just an amazing place. You will want to get there early since they will only sell 250 wristbands per day to swim. You don't have to buy one if you just want to explore the trails. Adults were $9 and kids 2-12 are $5 each to swim. Its almost like a tropical oasis in the desert. The swimming hole is about the length of 2 football fields and has a couple of rope swings. On both banks there are towering Knob Cypress keeping it cool even on a hot day. The water is a constant 67f so it may seem a bit cold at first bit is so refreshing. One side is pretty deep and one is shallow enough to easily walk in. The best part is the crystal clear water. Bring a mask if you can and you will be able to see father than any other swimming hole in TX. Its a magical place and my family loved it.
Blue Hole is nice enough as a watering hole, but with so many other great options in the area, I'd pass on returning as their entry policy is completely ridiculous. As mentioned by others, they limit capacity (totally fine with that) but don't let anyone in - no matter how many others leave - for two hours once they reach capacity. This meant we waited outside for an hour and half and watched probably 75 or more people leave but were not allowed in despite many attempts to ask reasonably why this policy is in place. When we finally we allowed entrance, the pool was well below capacity - maybe 50 or so people inside. We could have easily been let in much earlier as well as all of the others waiting with kids in 100+ degree heat. Will not be returning. Not to mention the staff made up entirely of kids and the obnoxious teenagers screaming inside every time I've been. Check out canyon lake, Jacobs well, blanco river, Hamilton pool, San Marcos s river or any of the other great swim holes around instead!!
